Chapter Thirty-Six “A Smart Cookie”

she couldve been someone

she can speak 2 languages, sing opera, fix a tv but doesnt know which subway to take to get downtown

i feel as if the best age to get married is whenever you think youre ready for it. theres no best reason to get marries other than loving someone. i think sally did so she could get away from her dad but her husband is just like her dad.

Chapter 13

1. They are without respect for all things living, including themselves. 
they don't respect anyone or anything.

2. But after a while you get tired of being worried about kids who aren’t even yours. 
there's so many kids you can't keep track of them and you just give up.

Chapter 14

1. What did Alicia inherit from her mother? 
her mom's rolling pin and sleepiness

2. Of what is Alicia afraid? 
fathers and four legged fur

3. How does Alicia’s father treat her? What does he say about a woman’s place? 
badly, she's afraid of him. and there is no such thing as a good women 

Chapter 15

1. Many people turn to nature when they are upset or sad or in need of peace. Esperanza says that you can get drunk on sky. Is there a part of nature that soothes you when you are sad or upset? Is there a part of nature that inspires you?
the beach is really soothing to me, whenever i would get upset over the summer i'd just walk down to the beach

because they wanna be right and only them

because they have different opinions of things. the girls are just messing around with each other

a bum man tries to talk to them

they're too young to be wearing high heels

they make them more lady like

the adults are portrayed as better than the kid and theyre mean. i saw adults as scary people and i never wanted to grow up.

her shoes; she feels relieved because she didnt want to wear them

i felt that i was growing up when i stopped believing in santa and all of them. i felt that i was becoming an adult at the age of like 13 when i started high school. growing up is scary and frustrating.

part of having a home is where youre happy and feel most comfortable at. theres a lot of extra space at my house so i wouldnt want that. i have to have a good sized kitchen and master bedroom. i'd also like a big backyard for my animals.

she was born on a bad day

yes there are. people should accept a person for who they are and where they come from. nothing can be done about it because theres a lot of people in this world and it would take so much to have everyone see eye to eye

she was scared to look him in the eye. they say hes a punk and to stay away from him

because she wants to be new and shiny

I know im growing up because i got my license and im almost done with high school then ill be off to college.
